Been waiting long enough for level 2 books? You need only wait a little longer. Production is under way for level 2 readers. We’ve already begun adapting the Charles Dickens classic story “Great Expectations”. Without giving too much away, this story will take place in modern China.

For Estella, the love interest with a heart of stone, finding an appropriate Chinese name was not difficult: 冰冰. But what about Pip? His name in the typical Chinese translation is 匹普, which is horrible, and we’re certainly not using. Suggestions welcome! This could be your chance to go down in the history of Mandarin Companion.

Name suggestion: Fipu
I heard it as a diminutive of Philip in Swiss German (Spelling probably different) and I think it sounds somewhat cute.
What “Fi + pu” might end up meaning in Chinese… I’m still only a novice, so I wouldn’t really know if the suggestion would be suitable from that point of view. You’re better placed to find that out!
Looking forward to Level 2 readers! 辛苦你们!
我等不及!
When can we pre-order?
Hi Guys, really looking forward to level 2 – fantastic stuff! Is it possible to buy ‘country of the blind’ in the UK yet?
Cheers
Matt
Hi,
Any idea when the Level 2 readers will be available?
Cheers.
This is a great series of books. Just what I have needed to advance my knowledge of the Chinese language. I’m ready for Level 2!
Yeah, I’m also wondering about Level 2. It’s been over five months since you said it would take “a little longer” — do you think that any books will be ready this spring?
Being a bit silly here, but how about琵琶??
Any news on level 2? I’m still working on my second level 1 book (盲人國, after reading 猴抓) and it’s plenty challenging for me, especially reading out loud, so there’s no rush where I am concerned, but I do look forward to hearing more from Mandarin Companion and I hope you guys are doing well.
Anxiously awaiting level 2!
Hi Jared and John, thank you for the great books, I have just passed HSK2, and now I am studying for HSK3, I am looking forward to purchase level 2 books !

Good news, the wait is almost over. We are in the very final stages. We thought we had it wrapped up last week, but there was more to do. Wait for a pending post on the leveling and why it took so long. November will see the launch of Level 2!

Is there anything fans can do to help see this published? Huge fan of this book series, and I know of more than a few people in Colorado waiting for Level 2 to be released.
I wish there was! We are seriously in the very final stages. The book will be sent to the layout designer next week. Finalizing minor edits and a few illustrations. November will see the launch of Great Expectations!
Your books have a terrific help but now on to the last one. So looking forward to your first Level 2. Will you release paper and electronic versions simultaneously?
Almost the end of November and no sign of level 2..
Hi, since I found the level one series on Amazon, my kids read 3 kindle books in 2 weeks. This is the first time they truly enjoyed reading books in Chinese. Thank you! I am checking this website daily about level 2 status. Will kindle version come out first?
I thought the book was scheduled for November? Any update. Thanks
